I love utilizing downtown Baton Rouge for Engagement sessions. There are so many little nooks and crannies that I feel get passed by all too quickly! This particular session was such a pleasure for me. This darling duo is a friend of mine's son, Kyle and his bride to be, Emma. First of all, let's just take a moment and adore the name "Emma". I just love it! You never hear it these days and she fit it perfectly- unique, beautiful, and strong.
Kyle and Emma are smitten for one another and it's SO REFRESHING. Ever see those couples at tables just eating food and not talking? Ever see two people in the same place but so far from one another? Maybe, say, divided by their cellphones or a blaring tv? Well, these two would definitely not be that couple. They were so darling in love it was inspiring to see.
Emma also helps clean his teeth which is actually really true love.
Another little tidbit about these two is they love terribly to goof off. Like basically taking serious pictures was painful for them two so we had to do our best at just capturing their spontaneity and fun-loving personalities.
We still got the best of both worlds.
Kyle proposed on the steps of the Capitol around 8-something at night so needless to say he did not get any great images of it. We took some time to recreate some of their precious and memorable moments by walking over there and capturing the two of them being them .
Their kind of love is the stuff wedding photographers love!!! They made the whole session one big blast and nothing like a photoshoot.
Did anyone else know that they redid the front of the Capitol? If not, it's just gorgeous! I love all the new, multi-colored tiles. Emma is from good ole Loooziana and Kyle is a California guy so it was only right that we captured them on their home state step!
Bless them so! Poor Kyle's grey shirt was black by the end of our summer eve shoot! They were both champs though and we made some pretty moments that they can hold onto forever!!
And they lived Happily Ever After...
As a wedding photographer in Baton Rouge it's quite rare to actually shoot an entire wedding and not realize you used to be best-neighborhood-buds with the groom from like 20+ years back! Upon delivering their images to them some 3 weeks AFTER their wedding, Adam- the groom- walks up to me and says, "I can't believe you are going to be at my wedding the whole night and not even say hello to me!!"
I was floored! Who, the heck are you because yes I shot your whole wedding only knowing your first name! (See what happens when the wife does all the work!) Adam Reed!! I was floored! Oh my gosh!! I felt like a fool but as we stood there staring back at each other I could literally see the young buck that used to be tiny rail-like boy with hair long and always Justin Bieber flipped to the side. There he was! Some 25 years later, a huge gigantic man!!!
And his darling Nicole just as out of words that we were! So back to their day! Funny enough it was at my husband's uncle's house. Nicole had seen his wife like my page on Facebook and that is how she got a hold of me! And all the small business people say AMEN for Facebook!
Nicole was beautiful in her darling lace dress that swept the floor topped off with a ribbon at the waist. It was just perfect for her. Very elegant, classy and simple. Her jewelry was topped off with beautiful heirloom ornaments and all her girls helped her with the finishing touches.
The original idea was for a backyard wedding but with this lovely Louisiana weather it was quite possibly going to pour on us so we moved everything inside till the clouds passed.
The two becoming one brought two incredible families together and everyone was all smiles and tears upon saying I Do. There's something so strong and beautiful about that precious moment of agreement of forever, to have and hold and through sickness and health.
We were able to sneak to the yard and take advantage of the no rainpour just yet :)
And this is when we got the party started!! I will spare you all the hilarity that happens after kegs and bottles of dark, clear, liquid magic come busting out! Just know we all had a heck of a GREAT time!
Where it all started.
Friends of friends. A blind date. Mutual interest. Sparks. Shared smiles. And something began.
A bit of like turning into a lot of like and possibly some love...
And then it came... the good the bad... the all of it... everything that comes when something like this begins to unfold and you wonder if you should run and hide or stay and find out.
Then it all comes out. And your greatest fears seem small when you are next to them and that is when you know something is gravely different about this one...something that you must have and hold.
And then it all gets better than the day before or anything you have really thought or imagined and you wonder how life could possibly be anything without them. You wonder how anything can be anything worth anything if it means being without the one you have fallen in love with.
So you stop trying to do it on your own and you find a way to do things different and new and perfectly perfect compared to before them and all seems right in the world with this other human by your side.
A sort of perfect that should never end and so you marry them and then you found out what all those people mean when they say happily ever after...
And you now have your own.
Love is perfectly perfect.
It takes all of us, every-single-little-morsel, to truly be a part of love.
Wedding Bliss... for POWERS and ASHLEY!!!
I was so excited when Powers called me and told me he and Ashley were tying the knot! I have known Powers for years but I had not met the doll that stole his heart just yet! They gave me to date and details and within a couple of weeks I was at the City Club in Baton Rouge to document their darling day of becoming ONE!
The whole evening was laid out just perfectly and you could see very apparently that Ashley and her mom had spent lots of time going over the wedding details for Ashley and Power's Big Day. Everything was just divine!!
These cake toppers were Ashley's grandparents and they made me so happy!! Mini things are just the best and this duo was as good as it gets! I hope y'all marriage last as long as these figurines and longer!!!
Ashley's made some beautiful bridals and was just gorgeous in her gown and headpiece. We got to snap lots of portraits before the wedding ceremony got started and it was quite a riot sneaking around the building to not let Powers see her beforehand!
Grandmaw brought her camera as well :)
The first moments after the "I Do" are my absolute favorite. There is always sheer wedding bliss all over the couple's faces and it makes my heart happy every single time!
Here's to your Happily Ever After!
